Why This Site Exists

In early 2024, I watched a friend pay $20 a month for an AI subscription she used twice a week. That bothered me. The tool she actually needed — a way to make her AI-assisted drafts sound human — was a five-minute job. Not a subscription.

MintAI Tools started as a small collection of utilities to solve that specific problem. It grew into MintAI Tools — a set of 21+ free, browser-based AI tools that do one thing well each, with no signup walls, no credit-card prompts, and no artificial limits designed to push you to a paid tier.

The site is funded by non-intrusive advertising and occasional affiliate links to products I actually use. That's it.

Who Runs This

How the Tools Work

Every tool on the site is powered by modern large language models. The primary engine is Llama 3.3 70B running on Groq's LPU inference hardware, which is what makes sub-two-second response times possible. When Groq is unavailable, requests automatically fall back to Google Gemini 1.5 Flash and then to OpenRouter (currently serving DeepSeek models).

Each tool uses a task-specific system prompt — you can think of it as a set of editorial rules the model follows. The prompt determines tone, structure, output format, and what the model is explicitly told not to do. This is why the same underlying model can write a formal business email, a casual Instagram caption, and a debugging report without any of them sounding alike.

We don't store your tool inputs. Text you paste is processed in memory, passed to the AI provider to generate output, and returned to your browser. It is not logged, not persisted, and not used for training.

Our Editorial Standards

We publish a mix of tool guides, comparisons, and how-to articles. All content on the blog follows these principles:

• Tested, not summarized. Every tool we recommend, we've used. Every comparison is based on hands-on testing, not marketing pages.
• Corrections in the open. If we get something wrong, we update the article and note the change.
• Affiliate disclosure. Some links are affiliate links. They never influence which tools we recommend — they just help pay for hosting.
• No AI-generated filler. We use AI as a drafting tool, but every article is edited and fact-checked by a human before publishing.
